For many years, the traditional approach to resources has been simple
Take • Make • Use • Dispose.
A circular economy asks a different question:
ABOUT US
How do we keep
materials in use for longer?
Instead of automatically treating something as waste, we look for opportunities to avoid it, reduce it, reuse it, recycle it or recover value from it.
01
Avoid
and reduce
Use fewer resources and prevent unnecessary waste from being created
02
Reuse
Keep products and materials in use for longer.
03
Recycle
Process suitable materials so they can be used again
04
Recover
Extract further value from waste where recycling or reuse is not possible.
05
Dispose
Use responsible treatment or disposal when no better option is available.
Why does
this matter?
Every item that can remain in productive use is material that does not immediately need to be replaced with a new resource. For businesses, circular thinking can also reveal where materials are being wasted, where recovery can improve and where processes can become more efficient
Waste can be an end point. Or it can become the beginning of another cycle.
